Dominic's Battle with a Rare Cancer: Our Story
On December 6, our son Dominic, just 16 years old, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive type of childhood cancer. Since then, he's had two surgeries and now has a treatment plan. This will likely involve more surgery, chemotherapy (medicine to kill cancer cells), and radiation therapy (using high-energy rays to kill cancer cells) over the next 15 to 18 months. Most of his treatment will happen in Salt Lake at either Huntsman's or Primary Children's Hospital.
We just made it home in time to celebrate Christmas, and we are so thankful to everyone who has shown us love and support. It's been a huge comfort during such a difficult time.
Although Dominic is in pain, we are hopeful we'll get some preliminary pathology results back soon. Each small step is crucial in this journey. We are grateful for the community's continued prayers and help.
