Dear Family and Friends,
We are overjoyed to share that Gloria has been released and is finally home!
The week was filled with anticipation. Following a court order issued on Friday, May 15th, an update was required within five days regarding her habeas corpus petition. By Wednesday, May 20th—the deadline for the federal order—Gloria also had her final individual hearing scheduled before the immigration court in Kentucky.
That morning, Jonathan, Jacqueline, and I traveled to Kentucky to support her. At her immigration hearing, Gloria appeared without representation to ask the judge for more time to secure a new lawyer. We are grateful that the judge granted this extension, allowing her children and family more time to gather the necessary funds and evidence.
Throughout Wednesday afternoon, we worked closely with the Martinez Immigration Law Group as they communicated with federal authorities. We were prepared for the Flora Law Group to file for contempt if the federal court did not uphold the release order by the end of the day. Fortunately, shortly after the immigration and federal courts communicated, we received word that her release paperwork had been processed.
At 5:30 PM, we received the call from the jail that Gloria was being released. Despite the torrential rain during our trip, the drive home was wonderful because we finally had her with us.
We cannot thank this community enough for the overwhelming support, thoughts, and prayers you have provided throughout this difficult time.

Nos llena de alegría compartir que Gloria ha sido liberada y finalmente está en casa.
La semana estuvo llena de expectación. Tras una orden judicial emitida el viernes 15 de mayo, se requería una actualización en un plazo de cinco días sobre su petición de hábeas corpus. Para el miércoles 20 de mayo, fecha límite para la orden federal, Gloria también tenía programada su audiencia individual final ante el tribunal de inmigración de Kentucky.
Esa mañana, Jonathan, Jacqueline y yo viajamos a Kentucky para apoyarla. En su audiencia de inmigración, Gloria compareció sin representación legal para solicitar al juez más tiempo para conseguir un nuevo abogado. Agradecemos que el juez concediera esta prórroga, lo que permitió a sus hijos y familiares más tiempo para reunir los fondos y las pruebas necesarias.
Durante toda la tarde del miércoles, trabajamos en estrecha colaboración con el Bufete de Abogados de Inmigración Martínez mientras se comunicaban con las autoridades federales. Estábamos preparados para que el Bufete de Abogados Flora presentara una demanda por desacato si el tribunal federal no ratificaba la orden de liberación antes de que terminara el día. Afortunadamente, poco después de que los tribunales de inmigración y federales se comunicaran, nos informaron que su documentación para la liberación había sido procesada.
A las 5:30 p. m., recibimos la llamada de la cárcel avisándonos que Gloria sería liberada. A pesar de la lluvia torrencial durante el viaje, el regreso a casa fue maravilloso porque finalmente la teníamos con nosotros.
No tenemos palabras para agradecer a esta comunidad el inmenso apoyo, los buenos deseos y las oraciones que nos han brindado durante este difícil momento.
