Update: She’s out of surgery!

We just met with Dr. Naiditch and received the best possible outcome. The surgery went smoothly, and we are so relieved.

The tumor was not intertwined with any of her organs—something we had been specifically praying for. Dr. Naiditch said it came out cleanly and wasn’t “sticky.”

She didn’t feel any enlarged lymph nodes during the procedure, so none were removed. That doesn’t mean there aren’t still affected nodes—only that nothing was physically detectable by touch. This is why we continue with treatment as planned.

Avry now has a 9 cm incision across her abdomen, and we’re hoping to see her within the hour. If all goes well tonight, we’ll head to 3 North for the next few days while she recovers—until she’s stable enough to return to the oncology floor.
