Round 5: Low Point

I was fighting a head cold going into game day 5, and it turned out to be too much for my already stressed immune system. The last 2 weeks have definitely been the hardest time for dealing with side effects and mental/physical fatigue. A little like running a marathon and feeling the fatigue of the race nearing the end but not quite in the home stretch. One of the expectations of the chemotherapy treatments from the beginning was that they would get cumulatively harder. While that hasn’t exactly been a linear progression, I can see how the stress on my body gets tougher each time.

I am feeling healthier going into this week after getting extra IV fluids, needed meds, and some good support from my medical team and close friends/family. LAST game day is Monday, May 4th, and yes, heavily leaning into the “May the 4th be with you” theme!

Here’s a picture from Game Day 5

So sorry to hear that the projected progression of worsening symptoms is becoming a reality. I was hoping against hope that you'd be spared the side effects of this nastiness... I realize that may have been a naive wish, but I had it, nonetheless. It stems from my knowing you to be a special, pure hearted and vivacious soul, as evidenced in the picture above. I was hoping that if anyone should be spared the distress of the recovery experience, it would be you. Hang tough (as I know you will), and ride the wave. Embrace and absorb the love and support from all of us that are pulling for you so you can KICK THIS CANCER'S ASS! The only way out is through... The force is alive and strong and will peak on the 4th. You've got this! As always, sending unwavering respect, love, support and hugs your way. Bruce

Lisa at GN sent a Passport Holder update and mentioned a beer brewed in honor of a former employee who now lives in CO and has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Kevin & I put 2 and 2 together and our hearts sank. Sarah, you are one of the brightest lights we have ever had the privilege of knowing and though this news was difficult for us to hear, we know your strength and spirit will help you immensely as you navigate this journey. The whole Connors Clan here in NH are pulling for you! OXOX
